Don't take risks with your financial affairs

You may not think that you need a chartered accountant to handle your tax affairs every year, but most businesses would benefit from an hour or two’s discussion to see if there are any tax savings or other financial wrinkles that  may have been missed.

Anyone can call themselves an ‘accountant’ even if they have no qualifications or experience!  Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales are qualified to use the letters ACA and FCA after their names.  In order to become members they have to pass tough exams covering taxation, company law and accounting principles and spend several years’ on-the-job training.

To offer their services to the public they need to gain several more years of experience and have adequate insurance to protect their clients’ against professional negligence.  All chartered accountants must spend a substantial number of hours a year on their training and development within every area of accountancy, tax, and auditing.

Getting that peace of mind from your accountant is important.  It is advisable not to take chances with your financial affairs, as you may never know what tax planning opportunity has been missed. So if you want to be sure that you are not paying too much tax, ask an expert – ask a chartered accountant.
